On vacation or on a trip, at least. And due to this trip to Washington D.C. there will be no updates, or any scribe functions for one week. I will return to my dfuties on March 22nd, so expect a big update then.
New E-Mail System is now in effect. roop 18 will now have a dedicated SMTP address. In plain English it means that I can now send you messages through one address, and send them all at once. With the old web based address I was forced to send the same message one by one, and with 24 members it is getting tedious. I got a program designed for E-Mail lists for free (because we are a non-profit organization) and a new e-mail address that will be compatible with the new program.
The new address is as follows:
Notice that the server (after the @) has changed. Also (this is at the end of the e-mail anyways) because we are now an official mailing list, you can subscribe and unsubscribe much easier. To subscribe you send a message to the above address that says "subscribe" (without quotations, caps sensitive) in the header, and "unsubscribe" does the opposite.
The Web Update A new feature has been added to our site. I have created a Web Ring (a group of sites that help eachother) under the name BSA Net Pages and it is hosted on our site. It includes a list of member sites (at leaste they are given the option to join) and are the regular link pages.
Web Address Addition If computers confuse you, ignore this. It will mess you up, and you will probably think I traded our user friendly address for one that wasn't. That said, the deal is this. I'll be quite explanic, the old address works. That is all you need to know. You can still conect at:
https://members.tripod.com/~Troop18Net/
but here is the deal. In ADDITION to that you can also connect at a new address:
http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Studio/1944/
the only reason I did this was it will give me more space to work with (around 3 megs of additional space), will provide us with more hits, and it came free with the free e-mail. I figured why turn down 3 megabytes of space, that would cost 5 dollars a month on our current server, if they are free here. Well that's that.
Be A Part Of The Site (adapted from e-mail) First of all, I want everyone to visit our site. If I don't see at leaste 20 more hits tomorrow, well, I can't say what I'll do (just kidding). But seriously, It might use up some time or whatever. And if you have your own web site, then you might as well let me know what the address is, that way I can give you a link on the site and all the people will look and click on it. Or at least that's the idea. By the way, If you have AOL then you should have a web site. I say this because for each of your screaan names (you can like up to 8 or 10 or something) you get 10 megs of space. That's 100 megabytes of hosted space on a reliable server! That would cost you around 30 or 40 bucks anywhere else. You probably don't need to know HTML code since they most likely have a simple site you can fill out, so don't get scared. It should be fun and easy. So visit us.
